Abstract:

The talk is about careers in Data Science and various interdisciplinary studies. There is a synergy between man and machine. Men are thought leaders who train the machine/computer to create AI/ML algorithms. This is a newer discipline in healthcare, where data comes from various sources - clinical, demographics, geographic, marketing, claims, eligibility and social determinants of health in the US marketplace.

About speaker:

Dr. Shakuntala (Lata) Choudhury has double Master’s degrees in Statistics and Economics from Ohio University, USA, and a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics/Demography from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick. Currently, she is a Senior Director of Data Science for Healthcare Outcomes at Agadia Systems Inc., in New Jersey. She is also an adjunct professor at William Paterson University, working hard to take down the COVID-19 pandemic with an arsenal of mathematical and statistical reasoning. She retired from the Telecommunications Giant AT&T (American Telephone & Telegraph Company) and has lived in the USA for the last 39 years. Her corporate career spans three decades in the USA. She is the Director of Community Affairs at FASS Friends of Assam and Seven Sisters of USA.
